§ 4-5. Poisoning animals.

  • (a)

    Any person who shall expose or put out, or cause to be exposed or put out, upon his own premises, or upon the premises of another, or upon the property owned or held through easement by the city, any substance known to be poisonous to animals, which is poured over, wrapped in or otherwise combined with food, with the apparent intent to entice such animals to eat such poisonous substance and become poisoned thereby shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in section 1-9.

    (b)

    The finding of such poisonous substance or poisoned food, together with proof as to the identity of the person exposing or putting out same, shall be prima facie evidence of the intent to poison and destroy such animals.
